Frequently asked questions
Our first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what is bringing you to therapy now, what you hope to gain, and how I might support you along the way. It’s also an opportunity for you to get a sense of whether working together feels like the right fit. If another type of care would better suit your needs, I’ll be happy to provide a thoughtful referral.
Individual therapy sessions are typically 45 minutes in length. This time is set aside just for you, offering a consistent space to reflect, explore, and move forward at your own pace.
I do not participate on any insurance panels, so my practice is considered out-of-network. At the end of each month, I provide a detailed statement (often called a superbill) that you may use to submit to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement. I encourage you to contact your insurance carrier directly to learn more about your out-of-network mental health benefits and coverage.
Payment is due at the end of each session. I accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards.
Yes, I offer a limited number of sliding scale slots for clients experiencing financial hardship. If cost is a concern, please feel free to mention this during your consultation so we can explore options together.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based and structured therapeutic approach. CBT is based on the understanding that our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are deeply connected. By identifying and shifting unhelpful thinking patterns, CBT can help foster healthier emotional responses and more adaptive behaviors. Its effectiveness is backed by research, showing meaningful improvements in well-being and daily life.
Psychoanalysis is a depth-oriented therapeutic approach that explores how unconscious thoughts, past experiences, and relational patterns shape present-day emotions and behaviors. Rooted in the work of Sigmund Freud and evolved through modern psychodynamic theories, psychoanalysis offers a safe space to reflect, gain insight, and understand the deeper layers of the self. This approach can be especially helpful for those interested in long-term growth, self-discovery, and lasting emotional change.
